About

The Red Wing Collectors Society Foundation supports the Pottery Museum of Red Wing and maintains it for the purpose of sharing information with the public about the pottery industry that once played an influential role in the culture of Red Wing, Minnesota. To that end, the Museum features dozens of displays highlighting both the common and rare examples of the products produced here, including stoneware, art pottery, and dinnerware. Several exhibits feature artifacts used daily in the production of various clay products. Displays of finished products demonstrate the wide range of items produced by the Red Wing pottery industry including hand decorated, salt glazed stoneware of the highest quality to be found anywhere, molded zinc stoneware, advertising ware, art pottery and dinnerware. The Museum also contains an important collection of memorabilia, vintage photographs, and products related to the local clay industry to provide for current and future educational experiences and scholarly endeavors consistent with the mission of the Foundation. For decades, Americans throughout the country encountered the clay products of Red Wing in their daily lives. A visit to the Museum is likely to bring back warm memories of family meals and the Red Wing products used to prepare and serve them. The Pottery Museum is located in the Pottery Place Annex in the historic pottery district near downtown Red Wing, Minnesota and is open Tuesday through Sunday.
